At approximately 6:45 p.m. on December 15, Commerce Police/Fire/E-Corp responded to a two-vehicle accident on State Highway 50 south of Culver Street.

Vehicle # 1 is described as a 1998 Isuzu PU driven by Billy Lambert, 55 years old, of Powderly, Texas.  A female passenger in this vehicle was transported to Presbyterian Hospital of Commerce.  Lambert was not injured.  His female passenger has an address in Campbell, Tx.

Vehicle #2 is described as a 1989 Dodge Van, driven by Eldon Gaddy, 79 years old, also of Powderly.  Gaddy was airlifted to a Dallas hospital for head injuries.

Both vehicles were southbound on SH 50 when the accident occurred.  Mr. Gaddy’s van pulled out of the Wal-Mart parking lot and moved into the inside lane.  Lambert’s vehicle struck Gaddy’s vehicle in the rear.  Gaddy’s vehicle accelerated, crossing the median, and the northbound lanes of State Highway 50.  His vehicle continued through a fence and came to rest on property owned by Texas A&M University.

More details will be provided as they become available.
