Trenton Lady Tigers survive first round of Fantasy of Lights Tourney

Trenton Lady Tigers (8-0) fought off a strong and aggressive Class 3A Burkburnett JV team in the first round action of the Fantasy of Lights Tourney in Wichita Falls, Texas by a score of 41-34.  The win moves the Lady Tigers to the second round to face a Class 2A JV team from City View High School.
 
After the first quarter of action, the Lady Tigers managed to hold a six-point lead, 10-4.  In the second quarter, the Lady Tigers saw their lead cut to two, 12-10, by the Lady Bulldogs.  Going into halftime, the Lady Tigers managed to go back up by four, 18-14.
 
In the third quarter, the Lady Tigers opened the lead by as much as ten points and finished the third period with a score of  30-21.  In the final period, the Lady Bulldogs came out strong, fought back, and cut the lead by five points, 30-25. 

TheLady Tigers responded by going on a 8-2 run and turning back the Lady Bulldogs with a final score of 41-34. 

"This was a tough game for us," said Trenton head coach Mike Jones.  "The Lady Bulldogs were strong, played physical, and they were a very aggressive team.  Playing this type of game at 9:00 a.m. did not help us, either.  We will have to play much better to make it thru to next round."
 
Hillary Baugh continued her strong play with 21 points and 11 rebounds.  This gives Hillary her eighth double-double of the season.  Alix Agan had 13 points, Casey Beezley and Whitney Benavides had two points each, and Brianna Hart added one point.
 
Up next, the Lady Tigers will play Class 3A City View's JV team at 3:30 p.m. Friday.
