The Fannin County Family Crisis Center will hold their 10th Anniversary Charitable Benefit Dinner on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. at Bonham Golf & Country Club's “Café On The Green.”
Guest Speaker for this important occasion will be District Judge Lauri Blake.
The Fannin County Family Crisis Center helps victims of family violence, sexual assault, and other types of crimes. The center provides assistance to many new clients each month and many who are already clients.
The crisis center provides an abundance of services to our clients. They include crisis counseling, information and referral, assistance with Protective Orders and Crime Victims Compensation, accompaniment to the hospital when injured by their intimate partners, accompaniment to a shelter, accompaniment to court for the hearing of the Protective Order, and many other services.
The latest statistics for 2005 show that in Texas alone there were 187,811 incidents of family violence, 143 women were killed by an intimate partner, 11,996 adults were sheltered, and 17,105 children were sheltered.
There were 36,250 adults receiving nonresidential services and 15,522 children receiving nonresidential services. 190,269 hotline calls answered.
In 2002, 74% of all Texas polled have either themselves or have had a family member or friend experience some form of domestic violence. Domestic violence is a real problem in Texas and our community.
