The pace is a little quicker in the city and the Bonham Lady Warriors will face a fast, polished Frisco Wakeland team Friday afternoon in a match that will help shape District 9-3A.
The Frisco Wakeland Lady Wolverines, along with Lovejoy, are off to a 4-0 start and Bonham is 3-1 after losing to Lovejoy in the second district contest. Wakeland and Lovejoy play September 25.
Wakeland is a little taller in the middle with 6' 1" junior middle blocker Sydnee Hilburn patrolling the net, but the Lady Wolverines have three quick outside hitters including senior, Blaire Bundren. Bonham's defense will need to stay one step ahead of Bundren or her speed will be a pivotal factor.
This has the potential to be a very interesting match. Bonham's outside hitters have a slight edge in height and the Lady Warriors may be a little quicker in the middle. Wakeland has a height advantage in the middle and is a little quicker on the corners.
Both squads are well coached. Both feature quality athletes.
But one team will take an important step forward in a very competitive district race.
