Twenty teams headed to Howe High School to compete in the 2007 Tri-County Volleyball Tournament and the finals featured the Paris Lady Wildcats against the Prosper Lady Eagles.
Prosper edged Pottsboro in three exciting games in their semifinal showdown. Prosper won the opener, 25-20. Pottsboro bounced back to take game two, 28-26, and then the two teams gave their fans an even better game three that Prosper won, 29-27.
Paris put away the S&S Lady Rams in two games in the other semifinal, but the Class 2A Lady Rams showed a lot of heart against their Class 4A foe. S&S led 2-0 in the first game before the potent Paris offense hammered out a 25-12 victory and the Lady Rams held a 14-11 advantage midway through game two, a feat that many 4A teams won't be able to accomplish this year. A late rally gave Paris a 25-22 win and a berth in the tournament championship.
Prosper jumped out to a 4-1 lead over Paris in the first game of the finals. Paris finally pulled even at 20-20 and the Lady Wildcats took game one, 25-23.
Talent runs so deep on the Paris team that, even without Angela Robinson on the floor, the Lady Wildcats can be very good. When the high-flying Robinson is connecting, though, Paris can be scary good. The Lady Wildcats put away a solid Prosper team 25-13 in game two to sweep the tournament finals.
