Until he was pulled in the middle of the 3rd quarter, it was the Nathan Pegues show, as the speedy running back for Sanger had his way with the Bonham defense. When he didn’t have the ball, Quarterback Tanner Miller just kept it, and ran the other direction for positive yards on almost every attempt.
Sanger was not one-sided, as their defense shut down Bonham’s offense and kept the Warriors out of the end zone.
It was a quick 4-and-out for Bonham in the opening stanza, as Jon Heredia punted the ball away to the Indians who took over on their own 46 yard line. On the second play from scrimmage, Pegues romped 54 yards for an Indian touchdown. Miller provided the PAT and the Indians had the 7-0 lead with 9:52 left to play in the first quarter.

The Indians wasted no time in scoring again, as Weston Squire went in from the 1 after only 6 plays. The PAT was also good, and the Indians surged ahead, 14-0.
Bonham tried to get something going late in the 1st quarter, when Andre Murria had a 35 yard run, but the Warriors had to punt the ball away once again to the Indians.
It only took the Indians two plays to score their next touchdown, thanks to a perfectly executed half-back pass from Casey Patton to Chris Casey for a 41 yard gain to the 13 yard line. Miller took it in himself, and with the PAT falling no good, the Indians led 20-0.
The Warriors took the kickoff early in the 2nd quarter and never made a positive yard as the Indians sacked Heredia and smothered Grace behind the line of scrimmage. Josh Lawson took over the punting duties for the Warriors with a good punt, but Pejues was waiting on the other side. Dragging as many as three players at a time, Pejues ran the punt back to the Warrior 1 yard line, where Tallon Condiff took it in for the score on the first play. With the successful PAT, Sanger had surged ahead 27-0.
The Warriors next possession was a replay of the last, with the only yards being negative. Lawson provided a 31 yard punt, and the Indians’ offense was on the field again.
Bonham’s defense finally stopped the Indians on this possession, when Jerome Stewart intercepted a second down deep pass from Miller, but the Warriors had to start work on their own 6 yard line. After one first down, Lawson was punting again, but the snap got away from him and the Indians were there waiting and tackled Lawson on the Warriors 12 yard line.
Two plays later, Pegues walked into the endzone for their 5th TD, and with the PAT, the score stretched to 34-0 with 3:48 left in the first half.
The Warriors took the kickoff, and on the second play, fumbled the ball over to the Indians and the winded Warrior defense was back on the field.
On the third play, you can guess who was crossing the goal line. Pegues scampered for the Indians 6th score to put Sanger ahead 41-0 with a little over 2 minutes left to play in the half.
Bonham went 3 and out, and Lawson boomed a 50 yard punt with no return as the clock ran out on the first half.
The second half started with Guillermo Martinez kicking off to the Indians, after one first down, Sanger punted their first time in the ballgame.
Bonham took over on their own 13 yard line, but could not muster any yardage. Lawson punted it away, and Sanger took up shop on their own 34 yard line.
Once again, Sanger mustered one first down and then punted, pinning the Warriors deep in their own end of the field at the 7 yard line.
On first down, Jimmie Allred showed a spark with a 12 yard run up the middle for a first down, but on the following 3rd down, the Warriors turned the ball over again with a fumble, and the Indians were ready once again.
Bonham held the Indians, and with a couple of penalties, Sanger had to punt for the 3rd time from the 36 yard line, where the ball rolled into the endzone for the touchback.
Bonham started their only scoring drive from their 20 with a coverage sack for a negative 2 yards. Then Chase Lawrence rolled for 13 yards and a first down. Another run by

The Indians had the ball for the remainder of the game, but the score remained 41-7, and the Warriors repeated last year’s early season record at 0-2. The Warriors will host Carrolton Ranchview next Friday for Homecoming Night.
In other District 9-3A action, Celina defeated Liberty Christian, while Whitesboro beat Anna to round out the only two undefeated teams so far.
