Independent gubernatorial candidate Kinky Friedman stopped by Anna, Texas Saturday to visit with a couple hundred voters on a swing through North Texas that will see the Kinkster in Fort Worth Sunday, July 2 on his first swing through Cowtown since Friedman was certified by the Texas Secretary of State's office as an independent candidate for governor.

Kinky Friedman is scheduled to be at Fort Worth's Flying Saucer Sunday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., but don't be surprised if the important visit lasts much longer.  After all, the folks in Anna had the candidate signing T-shirts and campaign merchandise for at least two hours after Friedman tossed out one of many zingers, quipping, "Folks, I'll sign anything but bad legislation." 

They held him too it, as Friedman signed shirts, dolls...and dolls in shirts until the line and merchandise finally dwindled about two hours later.   Then the Kinkster made one last swing through the crowd at John and Keri Hardin's ranch, posing for photos with new friends.

Meanwhile, interesting music from The Cutlers and Cowboys and Indians got the party started.  Saturday was a day to examine perspectives and Pushrod, a band from Leonard, Texas offered up a snapshot of one aspect of life in rural communities in the lyrics to "Small Town Underground."

The Friedman campaign's swing through Fort Worth will allow an opportunity to gauge current support and available resources as the election begins speeding toward November.

Kinky will address the crowd at the Flying Saucer just after 6:00 p.m., then answer questions, sign campaign merchandise and, no doubt, pose for a photo or two.
