BONHAM - KFYZ, 98.3 FM will cease operations as of March 1, 2006 when the radio station will stop broadcasting after twenty-five years in operation.

The station, which was sold in 1999 to North Texas Media Group and managed under an agreement with former owner Roy Floyd, has now decided to take possession and relocate the operation.

KFYN, 1420 AM which is currently the sister station to KFYZ, will remain in Bonham and continue serving the same communities as the departed KFYZ.

Roy Floyd had bought KFYN in 1975, which has been broadcasting in Bonham since 1948, and then added KFYZ in 1980.

Locally owned and operated Vision Media, who now owns KFYN, hopes to continue and add to the quality programming, local high school athletics, and coverage of local news and events that former owner Roy Floyd provided.

KFYN GM Rick Warner interviews the Bonham Lady Warriors last year following a playoff win over Eustace.

New KFYN General Manager Rick Warner commented, "We will remain locally focused and serve our communities that we have always covered to the best of our ability."

KFYN's format will remain Country Music and locally oriented; and with improvements in equipment and signal strength, will take advantage of greatly improved technology in helping serve the area.

KFYN's broadcast is simulcast locally in Bonham on cable television; Cableone channel 25; which also serves the community with a schedule of local events and services on a continuous video loop.

The KFYN studios will relocate to 506 North Main Street in downtown Bonham in their effort to become even more involved in community activities.

The office at the far right, 506 N. Main in Bonham, will be the new home for KFYN.
