LIONS HOST RAMBELLES THURSDAY
The Lions lost both meetings with Angelo State last year. The
Rambelles come into this season as the defending Lone Star Conference
Champions. A&M-Commerce lost the first game between the
two squads last year, 88-55. The team shot 30% from the floor, and
was outrebounded 50-35 by the Rambelles. Piggy Mosley scored 19
points and recorded seven rebounds. In their second battle of the
season, the Lions hung close but ended up losing by the final score of
76-64. Mosley was the only returner on this year’s team to register a
double-digit scoring night. She finished the game with 11 points and
seven rebounds, while Althea Byfield tallied seven points and ten
rebounds.
ABOUT THE RAMBELLES

Shootout. Ashley King led the Rambelles in scoring by tallying 12 points.
Four other players registered at least seven points and all but one player on the roster scored in the contest.

Christian shot 52% from the floor in the win and connected on 42% of
their three-point attempts.

THE LIONS LAST TIME OUT
The Lions suffered their first loss of the 2005-06 season, 84-74, at the
hands of Division I opponent Northwestern Louisiana State. Andrea
Lewis had a career night in the loss by leading all scorers with 23 points. Rashida Wilson and Tradawn Short both recorded double-doubles on the evening. Wilson scored 13 points and dished out 10 assists, while Short scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Kanani Marshal also posted a double-digit scoring effort, her second of the season, with 11 points. The Lions shot 40% from the floor and forced 28 turnovers, but missed opportunities down the stretch led to the ten-point defeat.
LEWIS COMING INTO HER OWN
Senior transfer Andrea Lewis has led the Lions in scoring in each of the
past two games. Lewis scored 17 points, to lead all scorers, in the
Lions 90-47 victory over UT-Dallas. She followed up that performance
by scoring a season high 23 points against Division I opponent
Northwestern Louisiana State. On the season Lewis is averaging 15.7
points per game, which leads the team.
TEAM ENTERS CONFERENCE CROSSOVER PLAY
Eight out of the Lion’s next 11 games come against Lone Star Conference South Division foes. The team is quite familiar with these teams due in part to the fact that they moved from the LSC South Division this year, making this the first full year that the Lions will be members of the LSC North Division. A&M-Commerce will also travel to Stillwater, Oklahoma next week, as part of that 11 game stretch, to face the Oklahoma State Cowgirls. The Lions have a total of three Division I teams on their regular season schedule this year.
FOUR LIONS AVERAGING OVER TEN POINTS PER GAME
With three games in the books, the Lions have four players averaging at least ten points per game. Andrea Lewis has led the team in scoring
each of the last two games and is currently leading the team by averaging 15.7 points per game. Piggy Mosley is averaging 13.3 points per game and seven rebounds per game. Junior transfer Kanani Marshal
has adapted quite nicely to the Division II level, she is currently averaging 11.3 points per contest. Tradawn Short has scored a total of 30 points through the first three games, giving her an average of ten points per contest.
