Honey Grove, Texas -- Graveside services for James Otis "Rus" Tolliver, age 78, of Honey Grove will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday September 13, 2005 at Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery with minister Ken Womack officiating. Mr. Tolliver passed away Thursday, September 8, 2005 at Honey Grove Nursing Center.
He was born May 1, 1927 in Hickory, Oklahoma to Kidd Tolliver and Ethel Burnett. Mr. Tolliver served 13 years with the U.S. Coast Guard and later he worked in law enforcement as a policeman for the city of North Richland Hills, Texas from 1957 to 1960 and was with the Texas Liquor Control Board from 1960 to 1970. Mr. Tolliver was a Deputy Constable for Dallas County, Precinct #7 from 1970 to 1980 and more recently was self-employed as a broker for the sales of automobiles, air planes and boats. Mr. Tolliver was a member of the Masonic Lodge #69 AF & AM in Roff, Oklahoma.
He belonged to the Cowboy Church.
James Otis "Rus" Tolliver is survived by his stepmother, Wilcie Tolliver of Roff, Oklahoma; brother, Paul M. Tolliver of Honey Grove, Texas; brother, Bob Tolliver of Roff, Oklahoma; brother, Dub Tolliver of Roff, Oklahoma; and sister, Carol Stewart of Roff, Oklahoma.
