You may know that Captain Alan Bean was a NASA astronaut on Apollo 12 in 1969 and was the fourth man to walk on the Moon.

What you may not know is that he is from Fort Worth and was named an honorary Fort Worth Police officer before he flew to the Moon!

On Saturday, June 25, Captain Bean will present to the Fort Worth Police Department, Fort Worth Mayor Mike Moncrief, and Police Chief Ralph Mendoza the police badge that he took on his historic space journey.

The ceremony will be held in the Omni Theater entrance gallery at 2:30 p.m. at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History and is free to the public.

Captain Bean will be available for autographs for a short time after the ceremony.

The Museum will display the badge and other artifacts from Captain Bean's historical mission through September 5 in the rotunda.
