CENTRAL ARKANSAS:
Central Arkansas City Parks: Hatchet Jack’s Sport Shop said catfishing is good at Burns Park on shad, nightcrawlers and rice slicks.
Lake Conway: Bates Field and Stream said the lake is clear, and the bream are still on the beds. Anglers are having good success off the bank using wax worms, crickets, red wigglers and black-and-brown Tiny Mite jigs. Many crappie are being caught on chartreuse jigs tipped with minnows. Bass are biting well on buzzbaits early in the morning and Zoom soft-plastics fished around the stumps. If you’re looking for some real excitement, try fishing a Zoom Horny Toad in the lily pads at sunrise. Catfish are being taken on trotlines baited with minnows and live bream.
Little Red River: Lindsey's Resort said the river is low, and many trout are being caught on wax worms with marshmallows. White and chartreuse Power Eggs are also taking quite a few. Fishing the current with Roostertails and Little Cleos is also producing quite a few fish.
Fourche La Fave River: Hatchet Jack’s Sport Shop said bream and crappie fishing in the river are poor, but some good bass are being hauled in on spinner baits and crankbaits worked in from the banks. Limb lines and trotlines baited with shad or skipjack are bringing in some catfish.
Greers Ferry: Local guide Tommy Cauley said the water level is 460.72 and falling. The hybrid fishing is spotty at best. They are on the move chasing the shad. The fish are all moving into their summer patterns and can be caught in the deeper creek channels during the hot part of the day on spoons. Top-water lures and inline spinners are working well during low-light hours. Bass fishing is tough during the day, but many fish are being caught at night on spinner baits and worms on the first drop to deep water. During the day, concentrate your efforts on channel bends and ledges with brush. The crappie are biting well on minnows and jigs in brush piles from 6- to 15-feet deep. The bream are biting well 6- to 15-feet deep on crickets and nightcrawlers. Catfishing is good on jugs and trotlines anywhere from 3- to 17-feet deep. Walleye are still being caught backtrolling nightcrawlers across points and flats. Shiloh Marina said bream fishing is good from 10 to 15 feet on worms fished near the bottom. Crappie fishing is good 15- to 20-feet deep on minnows and ¼-ounce white jigs drifted in Salt Creek. Catfishing is fair on trotlines baited with cut shad. White bass and hybrids are schooling in 15 to 20 feet of water, but there is little surface activity. Try vertically jigging a CC Spoon just below clouds of baitfish in the main lake.
Harris Brake Lake: Coffee Creek Landing said the lake is clear and at normal pool. Bream are still spawning and are being caught in 3 to 4 feet of water. Bass fishing has been fair with a few largemouths being pulled from weed beds in 3 to 4 feet of water on soft-plastic worms. Catfish have been good fishing large minnows and rice slicks.
Lake Overcup: Lakeview Landing said the lake is low. Bream are biting in the shallows on worms and crickets. Crappie fishing has been poor, but a few are being picked up on minnows tightlined in shallow water. Bass have been good on spinner baits worked slowly over the rocky areas in the lake.
Toad Suck Lock and Dam: Bates Field and Stream said few reports came in, but crappie are fair in the backwaters in 3 to 8 feet. Try live minnows on a slip-cork rig. Catfishing is good on shad.
Little Maumelle River: River Valley Bait said the river clarity is normal. Redear sunfish are being caught right at the edge of the bank on red wigglers and nightcrawlers. Crappie fishing is good on chartreuse jigs and minnows fished tight to cover. Bass fishing is good on spinner baits and minnows in 3 feet of water. Catfishing is excellent in the river on practically any prepared or live bait.
Lake Cargile: Beeson’s Grocery said fishing has been poor for all species.
Lake Maumelle: Jolly Roger’s Marina said bass have been fair to good. Largemouths are hiding in the weeds out to 10 feet deep in the early morning and are hitting in top-water lures and crankbaits. After that, fish deeper with a Carolina-rig. Kentucky bass are good and are being caught 8- to 14-feet deep on 3-inch pumpkin grubs and crankbaits. Drop-shotting is also producing some good Kentuckies. White bass are schooling from the marina east to Three-fingers cove. Spooks, clear Near Nothings, Roostertails and CC Spoons. Catfish are hitting large minnows and prepared baits fished in 13 to 28 feet of water. Crappie fishing is picking up with many being caught on 1/32-ounce jigs drifted in 18 to 22 feet of water. Hatchet Jack’s Sport Shop said the lake is clear. Bream fishing is fair to good in 2 to 3 feet of water around the lily pads. Try using red wigglers or crickets. Bass fishing is good on spinner baits and Zoom lizards and Flukes fished near trees in the water.
Arkansas River: Charley’s Hidden Harbor near Oppelo said the flow from Lock 9 is 29,000 CFS with a headwater at 284 and a tailwater at 266.5. White bass are active early and late in the day, and many fishermen are taking them on white in-line spinners like Roostertails. Stripers are also being caught below Lock 9 on large spoons and live bait in the evenings. Bream are still holding in the grassy areas of the banks and are being caught on crickets fished on the outside edge of the grass. Black bass are good along the grass edge early on buzzbaits and Jitterbugs. Kentucky bass are being found on shallow rocks and are being caught on white Roostertails. Crappie fishing is fair in 10 to 15 feet of water around the wood. Catfishing is good on live bream. Concentrate your efforts on shallow water in the morning, and then move out to the jetty tips when the sun gets high.
Arkansas River (Little Rock area): Hatchet Jack’s Sport Shop said bass are going after buzzbaits during low-light hours. Many bass are being caught during the day on Carolina-rigged worms and centipedes on the deep end of the jetties. Some catfish are being caught on trotlines baited with shad, skipjack and rice slicks.
Murray Lock and Dam: Hatchet Jack’s Sport Shop said the white bass and stripers are downstream of the dam and many are being caught on large white Twistertails and white Sassy Shads. Catfish are being caught on rice slicks and skipjack.
Pickthorne Lake: Hatchet Jack’s Sport Shop said bream are biting well on red worms and crickets fished in 3 to 5 feet of water. Catfish are being caught on nightcrawlers and chicken livers around the levee. Outdoor Super Store said the water is muddy and low. Bream fishing is slow in 1 to 2 feet of water on crickets fished near the brush piles. Crappie are slow, but a few large fish have turned up near the brush piles on minnows. Bass fishing is fair on purple and junebug-colored plastic worms. Catfish are good on chicken livers towards the middle of the lake.
NORTH ARKANSAS:
White River: Gaston's White River Resort said the river is clear and low. Trout fishing has been good on Power Bait in yellow and orange and red wigglers. Fly-fishing is good on sow bug and tan scud patterns drifted under a strike indicator and Woolly Buggers fished across the current. McLellan’s Fly Shop said water releases have been in the late afternoon, providing plenty of wading opportunities. With all the recent high water, the trout in the upper slot-limit area are all fat and healthy. Fly-fishing from a boat during high water has been producing a lot of hook-ups lately using larger scud and sow bug patterns. Best flies have been: McLellan’s Hunchback Scud Tan, Olive and Gray (sizes 14 to 16), Flashback Scud Tan, Olive and Gray (sizes 12 to 16), McLellan’s Woven Sow Bug (sizes 14 to 16), Mercury Brassie (sizes 18 to 20), Rojo Midge (size 22), Mercury Blood Midge (sizes 20 to 22), Red Jujubee Midge (sizes 20 to 22), Johnny Flash (sizes 20 to 24), Mercury Black Beauty (sizes 20 to 22), Gray Mercury Midge (sizes 20 to 22). Wilderness Trail said fishing has been slower than usual as generation has been low. The Berkley Power Egg bite has been good in yellow, white and pink. Buoyant Spoons and Roostertails are the bait of choice during generation. The fly-fishers did well on olive Woolly Buggers, tungsten beadhead midges, sow bugs and San Juan worms.
North Fork River: McLellan’s Fly Shop said Generation has been more sporadic lately, but there have usually been some good wading opportunities during the morning. With all the recent high water, the trout are in very good shape and full of fight. On recent guide trips, we have been catching several fat brook trout just below the dam. During low water, concentrate your nymph fishing on the faster runs and riffles; tie on a size 16 scud or sow bug and hold on. During high water, streamer fishing has been excellent from a boat. Big new streamers like the Swimming Jimmy and Articulated Zoo Cougar have produced several strikes. Best flies have been: McLellan’s Hunchback Scud Tan, Olive and Gray (sizes 14 to 16), Flashback Scud Tan, Olive and Gray (sizes 12 to 16), McLellan’s Woven Sow Bug (sizes 14 to 16), Graphic Caddis Tan and Olive (sizes 14 to 18), Flashback Pheasant Tail Nymph (sizes 16 to 20), Beadhead Hare’s Ear Nymph (sizes 14 to 18), Mercury Brassie (sizes 18 to 20), Rojo Midge (size 22), Mercury Blood Midge (sizes 20 to 22), Red Jujubee Midge (sizes 20 to 22),

Bull Shoals Lake: Wilderness Trail said the lake is at 653.39, almost one foot down from normal pool, but within inches of last week's level. Lake temperature throughout most of the lake is between 79 and 80 degrees with conversion layers at several depths, 4 feet, 10 feet and 18 feet. Lake clarity ranges from 14 feet to 20 feet throughout the lake. Crappie are in the brush piles and around boat docks 8- to 12-feet deep. Slip bobbers with crappie minnows are working the best over the brush piles. Bobby Garland's Swimming Minnow in Blue Thunder and small tube jigs in red-and-chartreuse are also working well. White bass are hit and miss. Be sure to have a Pop-R or a Roadrunner ready when they come to the surface. The white bass caught this week have been of good size. Catfish are biting extremely well in 12 to 15 feet of water. Their favorite bait last week was leeches and nightcrawlers. Largemouth bass are active in the mornings on top-water baits such as buzzbaits, Zara Spook Jrs., and Flukes in the backs of the creeks and pockets. Docks, blow downs and secondary points or watersheds are holding the bass during the day. Try fishing tubes and spider jigs in these areas. Smallmouth bass have been a little slower this week but are still holding off the deep side of pea rock points throughout the lake. They are moving up onto the points to feed in the mornings and late afternoon. Tube baits in cinnamon purple and apple seed colors are working well. Mojo rigs with centipedes or finesse worms in watermelon candy or pumpkinseed are also catching some nice smallies. Kentucky bass are still deep with the bright sun this week. There is some top-water feeding just before sundown and just before the sun gets over the bluffs. Otherwise, fish Carolina rigs in 30 to 35 feet of water with centipedes around chunk rock points and channel swings. Walleye slowed down a bit this past week but are still in 18 to 20 feet of water, with a few roaming about in 8 to 10 feet. Casting a Glass Shad or Shad Rap up to the bank early in the morning or using leeches on a split shot rig are the techniques of choice. Sugar Loaf Harbor said crappie fishing is good fishing minnows or jigs in 15 to 20 feet of water. Bass fishing is good on spinner baits worked slowly down the secondary points. Catfishing is fair on small sunfish.
Lake Norfork: Cranfield Junction Quik Stop said the lake is clear and at normal pool. Bream are still shallow and are being caught on red wigglers and crickets. Crappie fishing is good 20- to 25-feet deep on crappie minnows and Bobby Garland Swimming Minnows fished in the brush. Largemouth and Kentucky bass are good on spinner baits and top-water lures in the morning and evening in 6 to 8 feet of water. Catfishing is good shallow on nightcrawlers and prepared catfish bait. Stripers and hybrids are being caught near the dam early in the morning on Zara Spooks and Rogues and trolled umbrella rigs during the day.
NORTHWEST ARKANSAS
Beaver Lake: Southtown Sporting Goods said the water is stained as you get into the river, but clear in the main lake. Crappie are biting well on Hot ‘n’ Tots trolled 8- to 15-feet deep over main lake flats. Night fishermen are catching crappie and white bass underneath fishing lights. It usually takes a half hour to an hour for the lights to start working, but the fishing is great after that. Black bass are fair on spinner baits, deep-running crankbaits and finesse worms fished in 4 to 20 feet of water. Catfish are good on trotlines baited with goldfish or bluegill. Beaver Dam Store said catfishing is heating up with the weather. Chicken livers and stink baits are good rod-and-reel lures. Goldfish or perch are catching a few cats on trotlines in 4 to 20 feet of water. Leatherwood, Dinosaur World Pond and Beaver Lake all have excellent panfishing opportunities and all have good fishing from the bank.
Lake Fayetteville: Lake Fayetteville Boat Dock said the lake level is normal and crappie fishing is really going strong. Crappie are being pulled from the brush piles in 5 to 10 feet of water on minnows and jigs. Bass fishing also is good on soft plastics and top-water lures fished out to 10-feet deep. Bluegills are still on the beds in 4 to 6 feet and being caught on crickets.
Lake Sequoyah: Lake Sequoyah Boat Dock said the bream fishing is still as hot as the weather. Look for bluegills in 3 to 4 feet of water around brush piles and stumps. Fishing with worms and crickets has produced the best. Crappie fishing is fair on minnows fished around the brush piles in 4 feet of water. Bass are good on buzzbaits and spinner baits fished next to brush and rocky points. Catfish are fair on worms, shad and chicken liver.
Beaver Tailwaters: Beaver Dam Store said the tailwaters have produced some fat rainbows in the 12- to 14-inch range the past several weeks. Worms are a main menu item as well as a wax worms and Power Bait combo. The Houseman area received a truckload of trout last week and the biting is pretty decent on silver spoons, spinners and Rapala Countdowns. Fly-fishers are hooking up on Griffith's Gnats (sizes 20 to 22); Parachute Adams (sizes 18 to 22); Light Cahills (size 16); Prince Nymph (sizes 16 to 18); Copper John's (size 18); Beadhead Woolly Buggers, olive and black (sizes 10 to 12); Aggravator Nymph, olive (size 12); and cream midges (sizes 22 to 26). McLellan’s Fly Shop said generation has been coming on in the afternoon, providing plenty of wading in the mornings. All of the recent high water has produced some fat and healthy trout that are eager to bite. Scuds and sow bugs as well as midge pupa patterns have been the most productive, with soft-hackle action starting to heat up as well. Best flies have been: McLellan’s Hunchback Scud Gray and Olive (sizes 14 to 16), McLellan’s Woven Sow Bug (sizes 14 to 16), Mercury Brassie (sizes 18 to 20), Rojo Midge (size 22), Mercury Blood Midge (sizes 20 to 22), Red Jujubee Midge (sizes 20 to 22), Johnny Flash (sizes 20 to 24), Mercury Black Beauty (sizes 20 to 22), Gray Mercury Midge (sizes 20 to 22), March Brown Spider (size 14), Red Ass (size 16).
Kings River: Kings River Outfitters said the river is a little low because of the dry spring, but fishing is outstanding. The water temp is holding around 68 degrees.
Smallmouth bass are hitting green pumpkin and watermelon soft plastics fished on the bottom around chunk rock. Rebel Crawdad crankbaits are also taking quite a few on gravel shoals next to deep water. Several anglers have reported catching more than 50 bass per day. Largemouth bass are doing well on soft plastics on the lower river. As with smallmouth, use green pumpkin or watermelon in clear water and darker colors in stained water. Rock bass are starting to make nests and can be taken on grubs and small crankbaits. Look for shallow gravel drops adjacent to deep banks. Catfish can be caught on night crawlers and liver fished around deep boulders.
NORTHEAST ARKANSAS
White River: Local fisherman Jeff Moore said the river is low and the water temperature at Guion is 80 degrees. Trout fishing is pretty tough in this area. Anyone wanting to trout fish should be between Sylamore Creek and Calico Rock or even farther up the river. Smallmouth bass fishing continues to be fair. Small finesse worms and tubes continue to catch fish. Some fly fishermen are floating a 1/64-ounce marabou jig under a strike indicator and are doing well on the smallmouth. Largemouth bass fishing between Guion and Batesville is fair early and late in the day. Scum Frogs and Flukes have worked well around the grass. Small jigs and floating worms are catching some fish from the log piles. Rod-and-reel fishing for catfish is picking up. Chicken livers and prepared bait, such as Doc's are working pretty good on the blues and channel cat. Crappie and bream remain fair in and around the mouth of the creeks. Some walleye and sauger are being caught in the Oil Trough area trolling small crankbaits.
Lake Charles: Powhatan Landing said the water is clear and all species are doing well. Bream are biting just off the bank in 3 to 5 feet of water on red worms and crickets. Crappie are biting on minnows fished next to stumps and in the brush. Bass fishing is good on soft plastics around structure. Catfish are good on stink bait and nightcrawlers.
Black River: Powhatan Landing said the river is low and stained. Bass fishing has improved in the last week. Catfishing is good on chicken livers fished just out of the main current.
Spring River: Many Islands Camp said the river is at a normal level and the water is clear. Trout fishing is good on nightcrawlers and Power Bait.
SOUTHEAST ARKANSAS
Lake Chicot: Koenig’s Bass Tracker Marine said the lake is clear and the catfishing is good on worms, chicken livers and dog food fished on the bottom. Bream fishing is good on wax worms fished in 4 feet of water against dock pilings and sea walls. Crappie fishing is fair with a few being caught on shiners and small tube jigs. Bass fishing is fair working top-water lures and Slug-Gos near docks and sea walls.
Grand Lake: Koenig’s Bass Tracker Marine said crappie fishing has been good trolling jigs and minnows in 8 feet of water.
Mississippi River: Koenig’s Bass Tracker Marine said the river is falling fast. Catfishing is good on worms fished on the bottom around rock piles.
Old Town Lake: Old Town Fish Camp said the water is clear and the bream are bedded up on the banks. Fishing for these feisty panfish is good on wax worms and crickets in 12 inches of water. Crappie are fair on minnows fished near cypress trees in 2 feet of water. Bass fishing is good on buzzbaits and spinner baits fished in 2 feet of water. Catfish are good on stink bait and trotlines baited with minnows.
SOUTHWEST ARKANSAS
Millwood Lake: Millwood Lake Guide Service said the water temperature ranges from 75 to 85 degrees and the lake is about 2 inches above normal. Largemouth Bass remain good on white and bubblegum buzzbaits. White jigs with pearl grub trailers are taking good keepers in the river ledge wash outs and on outside river bends where stumps range from 8-10 feet depths. Some largemouth are being caught on Carolina-rigged Zoom lizards in pumpkinseed/chart tail and or watermelon/red flake. Early and late in the day, bass are still feeding and chasing shad near top water. Zara Spook Jrs., Zara Puppies and Spit'n Images, in shad patterns, are catching these bass. During heat of the day, 1-ounce Rat-L-Traps in gold or white fished on deep drops and cuts of Little River are taking the larger bass. Kentucky bass and white bass are schooling near each other, hitting ¼-ounce Rat-L-Traps in white, Rocket Shads, Little Georges and Roostertails. Crappie have transitioned back to deeper water. Fishermen report fair to good catches over brush piles in 9 to 12 feet of water. A few crappie have been caught in shallow water around cypress trees on jigs and shiners, but these fish are smaller. Bream remain in spawn mode, and are fair on crickets and red worms. Spotted Gar and very large Carp remain in the shallows in back of oxbows of Little River and around Jack's Isle's connection to Little River. Catfish are fair to good on yo-yos underneath cypress trees in sloughs adjacent to Little River, Horseshoe Lake and in Mud Lake oxbow areas. Bait the hook with cut shiners, spoiled chicken livers or cut shad. For those fishing the river and below the spillway, current is slightly increased in Little River due to increased discharge at the dam. Release at the dam is 1,965 CFS with five gates open at 1 foot each. Water clarity in the river is about 10 to 15 inches.
Lake Columbia: Steve's Marine said the lake is clear and at normal level. Crappie fishing and catfishing are both poor. Bass fishing is good with many bass schooling in shallow water. Lipless crankbaits and shallow-running Bandits are catching a few bass. Bream fishing is good on crickets in 5 feet of water.
Lake Erling: Steve's Marine said the lake is clear and bream fishing is the only thing going. But if you can find the beds in 5 feet of water, you’ll load the boat using crickets.
White Oak Lake: Willie’s Grocery and Deli said the lake is muddy and at a normal level. Bream fishing has been good with many anglers finding them on the beds and catching them on crickets and red worms. Bass fishing is excellent on top-water lures early in the morning and on Junebug-colored soft-plastics fished around the cypress trees in 3 to 7 feet of water.
Lake Greeson: Lakeside Grocery, Motel and Bait Shop said the water is clear and the lake is low. Bream are still on the beds and attacking crickets and red wigglers around brush piles in 3 to 8 feet of water. Crappie are fair 10- to 15-feet deep on minnows fished in coves. Bass and catfish are both poor.
DeGray Lake: Point Cedar Bait Shop said the lake is clear and at normal pool. Bream are staying shallow and are being caught on crickets. Crappie and bass fishing has been poor in the last week. Catfishing has been good using trotlines. DeGray One Stop said crappie fishing is fair at the edges of creek channels and on the outside of grass points throughout the lake. Catfish are good 6- to 18-feet deep.
Little Missouri River: Local fly-fishing guide Jeff Guerin said when the water starts to rise, the fish really got excited and are on the move. Quite a few have made their way out of the Wall Hole and into the Flat. They are feeding in the much cooler, rising water. That doesn't necessarily mean you'll have any more action as they have been just as picky as ever, just more of them and a lot more moving around. It is definitely good to see that water coming down the streambed.
WEST-CENTRAL ARKANSAS
Lake Dardanelle: Early Bird Outfitters said the big story on the lake is the bream fishing. Drop a cricket in some of the shallow coves with weeds and there’s sure to be a taker. Crappie fishing is fair in 12 to 18 feet of water on minnows. Bass fishermen are catching the fish as shallow as 3 feet in the morning on Horny Toads and other top-water lures. By 10 a.m. the fish begin moving out to deeper water and many are being pulled from 8-feet deep on lizards and other soft-plastics. Catfishing is excellent on shad, minnows, nightcrawlers and stink bait.
Ozark Pool: Lakeside Food Mart said the water is low and clear. Crappie fishing is fair on minnows. Black bass are being caught on watermelon candy Horny Toads and watermelon seed plastic worms fished at a rapid pace. Stripers are slow, but a few are being taken below the dam on large hair jigs. Catfishing is good below the dam on nightcrawlers, big minnows and cut shad.
Lake Ouachita: Trader Bill’s Sport Shop said bream are still on the beds in the gut of the pockets and are being caught on crickets and worms. Crappie are good in 6 feet of water on Kalin’s grubs fished in the moss. Bass have been active on the top early in the morning. Zara Spooks and other top-water lures have been productive. Catfish are spawning and a few are being caught on large bass minnows.
Lake Catherine: Trader Bill’s Sport Shop said there hasn’t been much activity on Catherine in the last week. The lake is clear and at normal pool. Bream are bedded up in 5 feet of water in the pockets. Bass have finished their spawn and should be moving out to the rocky points in 7 to 10 feet of water. Try slow-rolling a spinner bait or twitching a floating worm or Senko on secondary points.
Lake Hamilton: Trader Bill’s Sport Shop said bream are excellent with many reports of good catches coming from 5 feet of water in the pockets. Crickets and red wigglers are the baits of choice. Crappie are good on minnows around the brush piles in 7 feet of water. Bass fishing is good in the morning on Zara Spook Puppies and other top-water lures.
Lake Hinkle: Bill's Bait Shop said the lake is clear and at normal pool. Bream fishing is good close to the bank on crickets. Crappie are fair 4 to 6 feet deep on a jig-and-minnow combination. Bass are good on top-water lures and soft-plastics out to 5-feet deep. Catfishing is fair with a few being caught on trotlines baited with chicken liver or nightcrawlers.
Lake Atkins: Lucky Landing said the water is stained and at normal level. Bream fishing is still hot in 31/2 feet of water on crickets fished under a bobber. Bass fishing is good on crankbaits and spinner baits fished along major drops. Catfishing is good on live bait.
Lake Nimrod: Lake Nimrod Bait ‘n’ More II said the lake is at normal level. The crappie are biting good near brush between 4- and 6-feet deep and in the lake channels from 7- to 14-feet deep. Most are being caught on minnows, Bandit crankbaits or jigs in pink-and-white or red-and-chartreuse. Bream are biting well on crickets and worms. Bass fishing is good on spinner baits and buzzbaits. Catfishermen are reporting good catches on stink bait, worms and yo-yos baited with goldfish.
SOUTH-CENTRAL ARKANSAS
Felsenthal: Crossroads said bream fishing is good on crickets, wax worms and red wigglers fished in the shallows. Top-water poppers are also catching a few bream for the warmwater fly fishers. Bass are fair on top-water lures fished among the cypress trees. Catfish are fair on cold worms.
Saline River: Sanders Pawn and Bait said the river is muddy and rising. Bream are fair on red worms and crickets. A few catfish are being caught on trotlines baited with rice slicks and goldfish.
Cox Creek Lake: Sanders Pawn and Bait said the water is stained and rising from the recent rain. Bream are fair and scattered to different depths. Some are being caught on red wigglers and crickets. Crappie are fair on a jig-and-minnow combination. Catfish are fair on trotlines baited with large minnows.
EAST ARKANSAS:
Maddox Bay: Maddox Bay Landing said the water is clear and 10 to 11 feet low. Bream fishing is good in the extreme shallows on crickets. Crappie fishing is fair on a jig-and-minnow combination fished in 2 to 4 feet of water. Bass fishing is good on buzzbaits and spinner baits in 1 to 2 feet of water.
Midway Lake: Ed’s Boat Camp said bream fishing is fair on crickets fished in the brush piles out to 2-feet deep. Crappie fishing is poor, but a few are being picked up deep trolling minnows. Bass fishing is good shallow around the cypress trees.
Horseshoe Lake: Local fisherman Clyde Gregory said the lake conditions at Horseshoe are excellent and the water is at a normal level. Bream fishing is still going strong in the cypress trees in around 2 to 3 feet of water on crickets. Crappie are good on black-and-chartreuse jigs fished near the lily pads and around the piers. Bass fishing has been poor. Catfish are getting ready to spawn and are being caught on stink bait and cut bait suspended from limb lines and yo-yos.
White River Refuge Lakes: Bream fishing is good on the refuge. Most anglers are catching a few on crickets in the shallow brush. Crappie are fair on a jig-and-minnow combination. Catfishing and bass have both been poor.
