Program: “The Promise of Land”
The availability of land has been a driving force in the migration of Americans across the continent. The promise of land caused people to leave their homes, risk their lives for uncertain outcomes, and settle in forbidding wilderness areas. The records they left behind give us the opportunity to discover who they were—and even retrace their footsteps.
This is the Society’s final meeting of the year. All visitors and prospective members are welcome.
