Saturday, Oct. 3 event will expand access to the fall fantasy festival for Deaf and hard-of-hearing guests

Waxahachie, Texas -- Scarborough’s Hollow, the award-winning fall fantasy festival at Scarborough Faire, will celebrate Deaf Awareness Day on Saturday, Oct. 3, in partnership with Hired Hands, Inc., with American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation available during select performances throughout the day. 

The need for greater accessibility is significant. According to DisabilityStatistics.org, approximately 3.5% of Texans — roughly 1.1 million people — live with hearing loss. For Scarborough’s Hollow, Deaf Awareness Day is a meaningful step toward ensuring those guests can experience the festival’s entertainment, storytelling and immersive fantasy environment alongside family and friends. 

Recognized as Favorite Faery/Fantasy Festival at the 21st Annual Renaissance Festival Awards, as voted on by Renaissance festival fans nationwide, Scarborough’s Hollow transforms Scarborough Faire’s historic 16th-century village into an immersive world of fantasy, folklore and unforgettable autumn adventure. The fall event features live entertainment, themed attractions, shops, food, games and characters throughout the village.
