Otsukimi Japanese Moon Viewing Festival to feature 13 food vendors and easy festival-wide food ticket system
Guests can sample Japanese, Asian and local favorites using food tickets purchased at a centralized cashier tent
Plano, Texas — From takoyaki and Japanese cream puffs to Korean BBQ, bubble tea, Dango, chicken and waffles and hand-spun cotton candy, food will be a major part of the experience when the 27th Annual Otsukimi Japanese Moon Viewing Festival returns to Haggard Park in Plano this Saturday, September 26.
Hosted by the Japan-America Society of DFW (JASDFW), the FREE, family-friendly festival will feature 13 food vendors offering a diverse selection of Japanese, Asian and American favorites.
To make purchasing food and beverages easier for festival guests, JASDFW will operate a centralized Food & Drink Ticket Tent with cashiers accepting cash, credit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay.
Guests will purchase food tickets at the tent and can then use those tickets at any of the festival's 13 participating food vendors, allowing attendees to explore and sample food throughout the evening.
Participating vendors include Beard Papa's Plano, known for authentic Japanese-style cream puffs; and Hana Hospitality LLC, serving Japanese food, desserts and non-alcoholic beverages; and Mitsuwa Marketplace with drinks, confection snacks and Dango.
Additional offerings include Sayuri Asian Cuisine, with matcha drinks, Brazilian lemonade, smoothies, sandwiches and curry; Breakfast Brothers, serving chicken and waffles including its famous red velvet waffles; F&F Express FoodTruck, featuring Korean BBQ; Bobaddiction, offering bubble tea, fruit teas, milk teas and coffee; and Angel Touch Kitchen, serving dishes including grilled chicken skewers, shrimp tempura, dumplings, egg rolls, nasi goreng and mie goreng.
Festival guests can also enjoy Playa Bowls; i Fratelli Pizza, serving pepperoni and cheese pizza; Sugar Rush Magic, creating fresh artistic cotton candy on-site; Weebie Takoyaki, specializing in takoyaki; and Martabak de Luna, featuring Indonesian cuisine.
The food offerings will complement an evening filled with Japanese culture and entertainment, including taiko drumming, sumo wrestling demonstrations, traditional dance, live music, anime programming, hands-on cultural experiences, children's activities and more.
Otsukimi, meaning "moon viewing," is a centuries-old Japanese autumn tradition celebrating the beauty of the moon, the changing season and community. JASDFW's annual festival brings that tradition to North Texas through an evening designed for all ages.

Take the DART Red Line to the Festival
The Red Line operates every 20 minutes on weekends. Park for free at Parker Road Station, purchase a day pass, and take the three-minute ride to Downtown Plano Station—the first stop. You'll arrive right at Haggard Park. Return service runs until midnight.
