Kerrville, Texas - Leyton Riviere passed for 316 yards and two touchdowns, but Austin College surrendered a fourth-quarter lead and fell to Schreiner 33-27 on Saturday night at Antler Stadium in Kerrville.

Austin College took a 24-20 advantage early in the final period on a 38-yard field goal by Alex McGregor. Schreiner, however, answered with consecutive touchdowns to retake control for good. Schreiner quarterback Isaac Ponce scored on a 4-yard run with 10:07 left to give the home team the lead. Ponce later connected with Ethan Collida for a 15-yard touchdown pass to make it a two-score game. McGregor hit a 27-yard field goal with 38 seconds remaining to bring the Kangaroos within six, but the comeback attempt ended there.

Riviere paced the Austin offense, completing 15-of-25 passing attempts. His primary target was Vincent Aparacio, who caught four passes for 119 yards, including an 8-yard touchdown late in the second quarter. Jermiah Johnson also contributed four catches for 64 yards and a 40-yard score in the third quarter that temporarily put the Kangaroos in front.

Zyan Stewart handled the ground game for Austin, rushing 20 times for 80 yards. Stewart scored the first points of the night for the Kangaroos on a 1-yard plunge in the first quarter, finishing a quick drive highlighted by a 73-yard pass from Riviere to Aparacio.

Defensively, Nick Anderson led Austin College with 11 total tackles, including one tackle for loss. Jaydon Redmon added seven stops. Austin College finished the night with 443 total yards of offense, ending up just behind Schreiner's 459 yards. The 'Roos will be back in action next weekend when they host Rhodes College at Apple Stadium in the team's home opener, set to kick off at 1:00 p.m.
