Dodd City Lady Hornets fall to Whitewright, 3-1

Whitewright, Texas -- The Dodd City Lady Hornets' nine-match winning streak came to an end Thursday night at the hands of the Class 2A Whitewright Lady Tigers in a 3-1 loss.
 
In a pivotal first set, Whitewright held on for a 26-24 win. That momentum carried the Lady Tigers to a 25-12 victory in the second set.
 
Dodd City regrouped and answered with an impressive 25-15 win in the third set, but Whitewright took the fourth set, 25-17, to take the match.
 
Facing a tall and talented Whitewright front line, Dodd City junior Gracyn Shindler hammered away with 20 kills. Kodi Dorau had 11 kills to join Shindler in double figures and Kayleigh McBrayer had three kills.
 
McBrayer handed out 15 assists and Adisen White dished out a dozen assists.
 
Shindler came up with a team-high 22 digs, followed by Kennedy Chaney (17 digs), McBrayer (12 digs), White (13 digs) and Makayla Camp (9 digs).
 
McBrayer and Camp both had a pair of aces, while Caroline Lackey and Shindler had one block apiece.
 
The Dodd City Lady Hornets will host Sam Rayburn on Friday, September 4 at 4:30 p.m.
