The Ector Lady Eagles showed grit, resilience, and determination over three days of tournament play, battling through adversity and lineup changes before finishing the weekend on top as Silver Bracket Champions.

Thursday’s pool play tested the Lady Eagles early. Ector battled through some tough adversity along with several rotation and position changes, finishing the day 0-3 with losses to Axtell, Avery, and Valley View. Despite the results, the Lady Eagles continued to work through the adjustments and never stopped competing.

That persistence began to pay off during Friday’s pool play. Still working through new rotations and players in different positions, Ector bounced back with a 2-1 record. The Lady Eagles picked up wins over Cumby and North Lamar JV, while dropping a hard-fought rematch against Axtell.

The two-day pool-play results placed Ector in the Silver Bracket for Saturday, and that was when the Lady Eagles put everything together.

Ector swept its way through the entire bracket without dropping a match. The Lady Eagles opened Saturday with a win over Sulphur Bluff, followed it with another victory over North Lamar JV, and earned a spot in the Silver Bracket Championship against Avery.

After falling to Avery during Thursday’s pool play, the Lady Eagles had an opportunity for redemption — and they took full advantage of it. Ector came out strong and swept Avery in two sets to capture the Silver Bracket Championship.

The turnaround from Thursday to Saturday highlighted the Lady Eagles’ ability to adjust, compete, and respond to adversity. Instead of allowing a difficult opening day to define their tournament, they continued working through lineup changes and finished the weekend playing their best volleyball.

Several Lady Eagles turned in impressive all-around performances throughout the tournament.

Alana Mackey led a balanced attack with 13 aces, 39 kills, 1 block, 49 digs, and 78 assists, contributing in nearly every phase of the game.

Ella Laymance recorded a team-high 47 kills, along with 8 aces, 6 assists, and 37 digs.

Aleea Wheeler finished with 15 aces, 27 kills, 3 blocks, 7 assists, and 32 digs, while Audrey Arie anchored the defense with a team-high 73 digs to go along with 6 aces, 10 kills, and 15 assists.

Adalynn Dederick contributed 7 aces, 12 kills, 38 assists, and 12 digs. Odette Cruz added 3 aces, 19 kills, 1 block, 3 assists, and 14 digs, while Cheyenne Beaty recorded 18 kills, 1 assist, and 15 digs.

Ainsley Greathouse rounded out the tournament effort with 9 aces, 31 digs, and 1 assist.

The Lady Eagles finished the tournament with a championship plaque in hand, but perhaps more importantly, they showed what can happen when a team continues to battle through adversity, trusts one another, and refuses to quit.

From an 0-3 opening day to Silver Bracket Champions, the Ector Lady Eagles made their presence known.
