Dodd City, Texas -- The Dodd City Lady Hornets moved to 4-2 on the year with a four-set win over the Class 2A Tom Bean Lady Cats.

Dodd City controlled the action in the first two sets, winning 25-14 and 25-16, but it was Tom Bean with a 25-21 victory in the third set.

These two teams saved the best for last, with Dodd City edging Tom Bean, 27-25, in an exciting fourth set to clinch the match.

Gracyn Shindler led all hitters with 19 kills, Kodi Dorau finished with 15 kills and Emma Garner knocked down six kills.

Kayleigh McBrayer handed out 36 assists to her swarming Lady Hornet hitters. 

Shindler came up with a team-high 33 digs, Kennedy Chaney had 13 digs, Dorau had 12 digs, Kendyl Lindsey got under 10 digs, while Makayla Camp and McBrayer both had eight digs.

Shindler  finished with five aces, Dorau had four aces and Camp contributed a pair of aces.

Caroline Lackey and McBrayer each had one block.

The Lady Hornets will compete in the Tom Bean Volleyball Tournament on Thursday, August 27 and Saturday, August 29, with a match at Trenton on Friday, August 28.

Tom Bean has tournament matches on Thursday against New Home and Savoy.
