Reston, Virginia -- The National Court Reporters Foundation (NCRF) announced that Kaili Tseng, from McKinney, Texas, has been named one of four inaugural recipients of the AHRE Shine Student Scholarships in the amount of $1,000 to support her continued journey toward a career in court reporting. NCRF is the philanthropic arm of the National Court Reporters Association (NCRA), the country’s leading organization representing stenographic court reporters, captioners, and legal videographers.
The NCRF AHRE Shine Student Scholarship was created with a donation from Allie M. Hall, RDR, CRR, CRI, from Sapulpa, Okla., founder of the Allison Hall Reporting Education (AHRE) school. Hall, an NCRF Angel Donor, created her court reporting school to help students succeed and to mentor them as they pursue their stenographic court reporting careers. The scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate academic achievement, professional qualities, commitment to their training, and the determination to succeed in this profession.
“I am a big proponent of giving back and lifting up the future generation of court reporters. I am so proud of the students who have been awarded my new NCRF Shine Scholarship. Thank you to all of the students who took the time to apply for my scholarship. I hope each of you continues to shine throughout your steno journey," said Hall.
“We are deeply grateful to Allie Hall for her generosity and commitment to students,” said NCRF Chair Meredith Bonn, RPR, CRR, a court reporter from Webster, N.Y. “These scholarships are more than financial support — they are an investment in the future of our profession. We are thrilled to recognize these four outstanding students and cheer them on as they begin their careers.”
Tseng expressed her gratitude to Hall, Allison Hall Reporting Education, and NCRF for the opportunity and emphasized her desire to give back to future students as she begins her own career.
“Thank you, Allie, for all that you do for us students. Thank you, AHRE and NCRF, for granting me the opportunity to get this scholarship! When I get out there working, I will pay it forward to the students that come after me,” said Tseng.

Court reporters and captioners rely on the latest in technology to use stenographic machines to capture the spoken word and translate it into written text in real time. These professionals work both in and out of the courtroom recording legal cases and depositions, providing live captioning of events, and assisting members of the deaf and hard-of-hearing communities with gaining access to information, entertainment, educational opportunities, and more.

The NCRA A to Z® Intro to Steno Machine Shorthand program is a free online or asynchronous six-week introductory course, providing participants with the opportunity to see if a career in court reporting or captioning would be a good choice for them. The program is an introduction to stenographic theory and provides participants with the opportunity to learn the basics of writing on a steno machine.
The National Court Reporters Association (NCRA) has been internationally recognized for promoting excellence among those who capture and convert the spoken word to text for more than 125 years. NCRA is committed to supporting its more than 10,000 members in achieving the highest level of professional expertise with educational opportunities and industry-recognized court reporting, educator, and videographer certification programs.
