Dodd City, Texas -- Class 2A Detroit proved to be too much for Dodd City on Friday evening, with the visiting Lady Eagles posting a three-set victory.

Dodd City looked like it had the first set in the bag, but Detroit rallied for a pivotal 26-24 win.

Detroit held onto the momentum for a 25-13 win in the second set.

In the third set, a late rally by Dodd City came up short, giving Detroit a 25-23 victory for a sweep.

Gracyn Shindler put down 22 kills in the three-set match.

Kodi Dorau finished with five kills, Emma Garner put down three kills and Caroline Lackey contributed two kills.

Kayleigh McBrayer dished out 13 assists to her Lady Hornet hitters and Adisen White was close behind with 12 assists.

McBrayer also had a team-high 14 digs, followed by Shindler (12 digs), Kennedy Chaney (12 digs), Dorau (11 digs), Makayla Camp (7 digs), White (6 digs) and Lackey (3 digs).

Lackey had a team-high three blocks, McBrayer and Shindler both finished with two blocks, and Garner had one block.

Dodd City will host TCA for a 5:00 p.m. match on Thursday, August 20 and then the Lady Hornets will welcome Greenville Home School to town on Friday, August 21.
