16-week program begins August 2, 2026,
at Park Avenue Church of Christ in Denison

Denison, Texas -- Married couples throughout Denison, Sherman, and the Texoma area will soon have a new opportunity to invest in their relationships, strengthen their faith, and connect with other couples walking through many of the same challenges.

Re|engage, a nationwide, Christ-centered marriage discipleship ministry, will begin a 16-week program on August 2, 2026, at Park Avenue Church of Christ in Denison.

The program is designed for couples in every season of marriage. Some may already have a healthy relationship and simply want to grow closer. Others may feel disconnected, overwhelmed, or stuck in patterns they do not know how to change.

Sierra Liu said the program can benefit couples regardless of where they are in their relationship.

“I am really thankful for Re|engage,” Liu said. “It has significantly improved our marriage, especially in the area of communication. It has brought us closer together, and I would definitely recommend Re|engage regardless of what stage of marriage you are in.”

Re|engage gives couples a structured place to slow down, have honest conversations, and focus intentionally on both their marriage and their relationship with God. While the program addresses communication, conflict, forgiveness, expectations, commitment, and emotional connection, its purpose reaches beyond simply creating happier marriages.

The primary goal of Re|engage is to help husbands and wives become better disciples of Jesus Christ.

The ministry is built on the belief that when people more closely align their hearts with God’s plan for their lives, every relationship—including marriage—can begin to change. Couples may first attend because they want a better or more manageable marriage, but Re|engage ultimately points them toward the hope, grace, and transforming power of Christ.

For Matt Truxal, the experience helped him better understand both himself and his family.

“Re|engage allowed me to understand why I act the way I do in marriage, and it helped me understand my wife more,” Truxal said. “I now understand my spouse on a deeper level. It has helped me learn not only how to love her better, but also how we communicate with our kids and how we communicate throughout our day.”

One of the distinctions of Re|engage is its small-group format.

Rather than meeting privately with a counselor or a single mentor couple, participants walk through the program alongside other married couples who are also working to strengthen their relationships and deepen their faith.

Through biblical lessons, personal reflection, open discussion, encouragement, and accountability, couples are given the opportunity to learn from one another and experience growth within a supportive community.

The environment is intended to be honest rather than polished. Couples are not expected to pretend that everything is perfect. Instead, Re|engage creates a place where husbands and wives can acknowledge struggles, celebrate progress, and take practical steps forward together.

“Every marriage can benefit from intentional time, encouragement, and the opportunity to grow,” said Basil McClure of Park Avenue Church of Christ. “Re|engage is not about pretending marriages are perfect. It is about creating a safe and supportive environment where couples can be honest, learn together, and discover renewed hope for their relationship.”

The upcoming program will be hosted by Park Avenue Church of Christ, a congregation serving Denison and the surrounding community.

The mission of Park Avenue Church of Christ is to provide an environment where the love of God and the Good News of Jesus Christ are transformed into the lives of people. The church seeks to demonstrate God’s love through worship, discipleship, relationships, and service to others.

Hosting Re|engage is a natural extension of that mission, offering couples throughout the community a place to strengthen their marriages while growing in their faith.

Re|engage is a church-based marriage enrichment and discipleship program. It is not professional therapy, counseling, or a substitute for licensed mental health care.
