Greenville, Texas -- Join us on Tuesday, July 7 at noon at the Audie Murphy/American Cotton Museum for a program by Ron Robinson. His presentation will be on "The American Civil War Revisited - The Military Campaigns that Ended it and Why the North Won."
It will focus on the surrender at Appomattox as well as the events that occurred after the battle of Gettysburg and Vicksburg that resulted in the collapse and subsequent surrender of Lee's army. He will also present the data accumulated over the decades that illustrate the advantages the north had over the south in waging war.
Ron Robinson grew up 25 miles from Springfield, Ill. home of Abraham Lincoln. He graduated from Eastern Illinois University located in Charleston, majoring in history. His lifelong interest in the Civil War resulted in being appointed to the Board of the Lincoln Forum based in Gettysburg in 2015. Now retired from a 24 yr. career in higher education administration and 32 years in economic development, Ron's Greenville experience includes service as the CEO of the Greenville Economic Development Board, a member of the Board of the Audie Murphy/American Cotton Museum and currently as Chair of the Texas WWII History Roundtable - Audie Murphy Chapter.
