Sherman, Texas -- Grayson County Pride (GCP), the only dedicated LGBTQ+ resource organization serving the rural Texoma region of Grayson and Fannin counties in Texas and Bryan County, Oklahoma, will host its 2026 Pride Festival, "Grow Like Wildflowers," on Saturday, June 13, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Sherman Municipal Ballroom. The event is free and open to the public.
"Pride Month is a moment, but community is a practice," said Dr. JoAngeli Zertuche-Kasper, Executive Chair of Grayson County Pride. "We are honored to celebrate Pride with our neighbors this June, and we want our region to know that the work of gathering, supporting, and showing up for one another continues every month of the year."
This year's festival carries the theme "Grow Like Wildflowers," honoring the resilience of LGBTQ+ life in rural communities. The festival features live performances throughout the day, including dance troupes and local musicians, and an LGBTQIA+ Artist Q&A Panel. Attendees will also find food trucks, local vendors, and community resource tables, with local radio station Mad Rock 102.5 on site. A full live show schedule is available on request at info@graysoncountypride.org.
This year's festival also welcomes guest speaker David Perkins. A 1972 graduate of Sherman High School, Perkins carried a childhood dream to New York City, where he built a life as a psychotherapist and longtime LGBTQ+ advocate, co-chairing Men of All Colors Together and serving on the Boston Lesbian and Gay Speakers Bureau. His generosity made GCP's permanent community space possible, giving LGBTQ+ residents across the region a place to gather safely and belong. He returns to Sherman this weekend to celebrate with the community his support helped build.
GCP's Pride Month programming continues with additional community events:
