Have questions about recreation
at future Lake Ralph Hall?
Check out our newly updated project FAQ for commonly asked questions on the project itself as well as hunting, fish stocking, camping, boat ramps and more.

Knowing how important recreation is to the local area, Upper Trinity has been actively working to include lake amenities as part of the project, including:
- Three public access areas,
- Boat ramps,
- A fishing jetty (pictured below),
- New fossil park,
- A trail system, and
- A Visitor Center and Lake Office.
The new Ladonia Fossil Park is now open. Recreation activities are expected to become available once the lake is filled (which could take 3-5 years depending on rainfall) and is safe for public use. We will share additional updates as they become available.
The balancing reservoir is a wrap!
The balancing reservoir south of Lake Ralph Hall is finished, with workers now testing the new facility.
The smaller reservoir is located about 27 miles from the lake and features two “large bathtubs” (see below). It separates two sections of pipeline from the lake: one where water is pumped and another section where water flows by gravity.

Once water is piped to the balancing reservoir, gravity takes over and transports the water to the Chapman Lake Pipeline and eventually to the water treatment plant. Having two sides provides flexibility for maintenance and additional water storage.
About the Balancing Reservoir
- Each side can hold 15 million gallons of water.
- The project was finished and testing is underway.
- Filling of the first cell will begin in early June.
