Dodd City, Texas -- The Dodd City Hornets spotted the Tioga Dawgs an early run and then controlled the middle innings for a 6-3 district win.
Tioga came out swinging and had a 1-0 lead after the first inning, but Dodd City scored three runs in the third inning and added another three runs in the fourth frame to go up 6-1.
Tioga scored the final two runs of the game in the top of the fifth and Dodd City held on for a 6-3 victory.
Eastyn Weissert got the win for Dodd City and aided his own cause with a 3-for-4 day swinging the bat. Weissert had one RBI and scored one run.
Aaron Solano came up with two tough catches in left field, pitched middle relief and went 2-for-3 at the plate.
Gavin Shindler took the mound for the last two innings and only allowed one hit to get the save.
Judd Shipman went 1-for-2 and drove in two runs.
The Hornets will be back in action Tuesday, April 14 when Dodd City travels to Honey Grove for a 6:30 p.m. game.
