Dallas Pulse earn road victory over Grand Rapids Rise before San Diego Mojo ends eight-game win streak

Frisco, Texas -- The Dallas Pulse (16-6) earned a four-set road win (22-25, 25-22, 25-23, 26-24) over the Grand Rapids Rise (7-14) on April 3 to extend its winning streak to eight matches, before falling in five sets (19-25, 24-26, 25-23, 27-25, 11-15) to the San Diego Mojo (10-10) on April 5, ending the streak.

Dallas Pulse outside hitter Mimi Colyer led all scorers with 23 points on 18 kills (.298), adding four blocks, and an ace to mark her 400th career point. Sofia Maldonado Diaz followed with 21 points, while Kaylee Cox contributed nine kills and Karson Bacon recorded a season-high nine points on five kills and four blocks. Setter Natalia Valentin-Anderson notched her 17th double-double of the season with 43 assists and 14 digs.

Grand Rapids controlled the opening set behind strong service pressure, building an early lead and holding Dallas to a .108 hitting efficiency to secure a 25-22 set win. In the second frame, Dallas jumped out to an early lead, and overcame multiple ties to even the match with a 25-22 win. In the third, Grand Rapids led until the media break before a Pulse run tied the set. Through the third, the set was tied four more times, and at 23-23, back-to-back Rise errors handed Dallas the 25-23 set win. Dallas carried that momentum into the fourth and final set, battling through several ties and a late Rise surge before closing out the match, 26-24.

Despite the loss, Dallas Pulse outside hitter Mimi Colyer delivered a match-high 27 points on 24 kills and three blocks, adding 14 digs for a double-double. Outside hitter Sofia Maldonado Diaz followed with 18 points, while pin hitter Kaylee Cox contributed 16 points on 16 kills (.302) and 14 digs for a double-double.

Opposite Kelsie Payne totaled nine points, nine digs, two kills, an ace, and six blocks—tying the franchise single-match record. Middle blocker Kaitlyn Hord added eight points on six kills and two blocks, while Tristin Savage finished with a kill, an ace, and a block. Setter Natalia Valentin-Anderson dished out 57 assists and added 12 digs for her 18th double-double of the season, along with two kills.

San Diego set the tone early, claiming the first two sets 25-19 and 26-24, despite a late Dallas push in the second. Dallas responded in the third set, taking advantage of a 5-0 run to take a 25-23 win, forcing a fourth. The Pulse carried that momentum into the fourth trading points, and despite a late 5-0 run for the Mojo, Dallas ultimately secured the 27-25 win. In the fifth, the Pulse and Mojo exchanged leads early in the set, but San Diego’s 5-3 run sealed their victory (15-11), ending the Pulse’s winning streak.

 

Mimi Colyer delivered a match-high 27 points on 24 kills and three blocks, adding 14 digs for a double-double in the loss to San Diego.


Dallas will continue their road stretch in Omaha on Sunday, April 12, at CHI Health Center. First serve is set for 4:00 p.m. CT., with the match streaming live on Victory+.
