Bonham, Texas -- It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Walter Stanley Pitts Sr., our beloved friend. Walter’s life was filled with kindness, compassion, and a deep commitment to those around him. He was born August 10, 1952, at Charity hospital in New Orleans and passed March 27, 2026 in Denison, Texas. He touched many lives with warmth as he never met a stranger, and always gave that million-dollar smile, leaving a mark on everyone who knew him.

Walter dedicated himself to the care and service of others through his career in the Air Force while stationed in Korea, and at the Bonham Veterans Administration as a counsellor and advocate for military veterans. He also demonstrated his dedication to the care of others by delivering meals for the SNAP center of Bonham and faithfully attending Bethlehem Baptist Church where he served as an usher, greeter, choir member and was part of the men’s ministry. When free time extended itself, Walter was always up for an adventure or a fishing trip.

Walter was preceded in death by his mother Alphese Pitts, his father Joseph White, brother Homer Burton, sister Delores Jackson and niece Diane Barrow.

Walter leaves behind his loving wife Roberta Pitts, daughter Delicia Pitts, sons Wayne Gray Pitts and Walter Stanley Pitts, and stepson Deshawn Elliott, brother Philip Blander, brother Anthony White, cousin, Betty Jean Jackson, grandchildren Demeko, Isiah, McKensie, Jacoby Noel and Elisabeth.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Wise Funeral Home, Bonham, TX.
