Denison, Texas -- TxDOT’s Travel Information Center north of Denison will host a work zone awareness driving safety event from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. April 22. The center is located at 6801 N U.S. Highway 75 in Denison, Texas.
TxDOT personnel, local law enforcement representatives and first responders will be on hand to remind motorists to make driving safely a priority when passing through the state's active work zones. Several fun, interactive activities are also planned, and visitors can learn more about tourism opportunities statewide.

This event is part of TxDOT’s work zone awareness campaign and is aimed at reminding drivers that work zones present a different and sometimes challenging environment for drivers to navigate. Motorists may encounter uneven pavements, narrow lanes, concrete barriers, slow moving heavy equipment and vehicles that make sudden stops.
When approaching a work zone, take responsibility: slow down, pay attention, don’t tailgate, watch out for road crews, and allow extra time.
TxDOT’s 12 travel information centers promote tourism to and within Texas, provide visitors with a vital rest stop, offer vending for snacks and beverages, serve as a Wi-Fi hot spot, and provide travel assistance from travel counselors. The centers and counselors create a positive first impression of Texas, help travelers choose travel routes, and provide detailed information on destinations, events and road conditions.
