Dodd City, Texas -- The Dodd City Hornets improved to 2-0 on the year, as well as 2-0 in district competition, with a three-inning, 18-2 win over the Savoy Cardinals.
This one was over in a hurry, with Dodd City scoring 12 runs in the first inning. Savoy got on the scoreboard with a run in the second inning and the Cardinals added another run in the top of the third inning to make the score, 12-2.
The Hornets scored six runs in the bottom of the third to cap off an 18-2 victory.
Cash Crossland did most of the damage for Dodd City, going 2-for-2 with three RBIs and scoring three runs.
Eastyn Weissert went 1-for-2, scored twice and drove in a pair of runs.
Aaron Solano also scored two runs and drove in two runs.
Judd Shipman, Paxton Payne and Brody Lappin all went 1-for-2, and all three scored two runs and drove in a run.
Tyler Denney was 1-for-2 and scored twice.
Collin Baum went 1-for-1 and scored a run.
Lappin held Savoy hitless in first inning for Dodd City, striking out two batters.
Kaleb Covington took the mound in the second inning and gave up one run.
Solano pitched the third inning, giving up a pair of hits and one run.
The Dodd City Hornets will host the Sam Rayburn Rebels on Friday, March 13, 2026 for a 6:30 p.m. district game.
