Sherman, Texas — The Sherman Symphony Orchestra (SSO) will present their Classical Concert II: The Spirit of the Earth on Saturday, March 7 at 7:30 p.m. in Kidd-Key Auditorium, 400 Elm Street, Sherman, Texas. The concert is $20 for adults and free for students, with tickets available for purchase here.
The concert will feature pieces by Duke Ellington, Frederick Delius, and Horatio Parker. Ellington’s ballet, The River Suite, presented orchestrally, will certainly be a treat. Each movement is a different musical treatment of water and how Ellington thought it might move or sound.

The Sherman Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1966 by Austin College Professor of Music Cecil Isaac, and performs several concerts throughout the year including the annual Christmas Pops show in December. Austin College Professor of Music and Music Department Chair Dan Dominick, is the Sherman Symphony Orchestra’s director and conductor, taking up the baton in 1992.
