Mineola, Texas -- It is nice to see your team listed in the weekly polls during the season, but after being overlooked by the pollsters all year, it is probably even sweeter to play your way into the final four.

Just ask the Dodd City Lady Hornets.

The Lady Hornets are one of only four teams with a shot at the Class 1A state title after Dodd City drubbed Slocum, 48-24, in the regional finals.

Dodd City took control early with a 13-2 run in the first quarter. The Lady Hornets built a 25-7 lead at the half and cruised to a 24-point victory.

Dodd City senior Addison Weeks is making the most of her final high school playoff run. Weeks finished with 20 points, 16 rebounds, six steals, five deflections and three assists.

Kayleigh McBrayer and Kennedy Chaney both came up big in the regional finals with eight points apiece.

Gracyn Shindler scored seven, deflected eight passes, came up with five steals and handed out six assists.

Kodi Dorau had five points and six rebounds. Kendyl Lindsey grabbed four steals and pulled down four rebounds.

The Dodd City Lady Hornets will take on defending state champs Broaddus in the state semifinals on Tuesday, March 3 at Frankston High School. Tip-off at 6:00 p.m.

Eula will face Spur in the other Class 1A state semifinals game.
