Dodd City Lady Hornets advance to regional finals with win over May

Azle, Texas -- The Dodd City Lady Hornets extended their deep dive into the 2026 playoffs with a 10-point win over May in the regional semifinals.

Dodd City took control in the first quarter and it was senior Addison Weeks leading the way with seven quick points. Gracyn Shindler hit a basket and a pair of free throws, Kennedy Chaney knocked down a triple and freshman Kodi Dorau had two points to give the Lady Hornets a 16-10 lead going into the second period.

May managed to whittle two points off the Dodd City lead in the second stanza, but Dodd City had a 23-19 advantage at the half.

The Lady Hornets' swarming defense only allowed two points in the third quarter, giving Dodd City a 31-21 lead going into the final frame.

Both teams put up 15 points down the stretch as Dodd City went on to put a 46-36 playoff win in the books.

Addison Weeks scored a game-high 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for a double-double. Weeks also led the Lady Hornets in assists (6), deflections (6) and steals (3).

Kodi Dorau was also in double digits with 11 points to go along with five rebounds and four deflected passes.

Gracyn Shindler knocked down nine points, dished off four assists and deflected five passes.

Kennedy Chaney put up six points, Kendyl Lindsey finished with five rebounds and three points, and Kayleigh McBrayer hit a free throw and came up with a pair of steals.

The Lady Hornets advance to take on Slocum in the regional finals on Friday, February 27 at Mineola High School. Tip-off is 6:00 p.m.
