Austin, Texas -- (February 19, 2026) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $14,444,100 to the City of Bonham (Fannin County), consisting of $4,335,000 in financing and $10,109,000 in grant funding from the Water Loan Assistance Fund (WLAF). The City will use the assistance for the design and construction of a water system improvements project.

The City could save approximately $848,000 over the life of the loan by using the WLAF, in addition to the grant funding.

With the assistance approved today, the City will replace 26,575 feet of water lines, approximately six percent of the total system, and 20 fire hydrants. The City also proposes to add 6,945 feet of new 12- to 16-inch water lines to create looping in the system for improved water quality.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood mitigation, and agricultural water conservation projects.
