Bonham, Texas -- Trey Hardy, 33, passed away unexpectedly on Feb 2, 2026. He was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, students, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Trey was a devoted son and brother, nephew and cousin, friend, and teacher whose life was defined by curiosity, kindness, and quiet dedication to the people and passions he cared about most. He was a high school math teacher who took pride in helping students understand concepts that once felt impossible, believing that patience, encouragement, and persistence could change lives. His impact as an educator reached far beyond the classroom and will continue to be felt in the many students he supported and inspired.

Outside of teaching, Trey found joy in cooking, reading, and immersing himself in the stories he loved. He was a passionate Buffalo Bills fan and followed the team with unwavering loyalty. He enjoyed Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and anime—stories centered on courage, loyalty, hope, and the idea that even quiet heroes matter. He also adored his cat, whose companionship brought him comfort and happiness.

Trey is survived by his loving family, including his mother, Trudy Baggett and husband Donny and sister Kathryn Hardy and his beloved extended family Pa ( Tommy Baker), Trina, Wes, Travis, Taylor, Katie, Tim, Misty, Bailey, Lizzie, and Lacie.  He was preceded in death by his father Ted Hardy and Grammy (Sue Baker)

A celebration of Trey’s life will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday, February 8 at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham, Texas. The service will honor his life in a way that reflects who he was, focusing on remembrance, shared stories, and the lasting impact he made. Family members will be available at noon to anyone who would like to visit.  A cookout will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 7 at 7106 Post Oak, Bonham, Texas.  Anyone who knew Trey is welcome and please dress comfortably. We would  love to hear from you if you plan to attend so we have enough food (not required).  Text Trudy 903-259-9988 for more information and to confirm attendance.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites those who wish to honor him to consider a gesture of kindness, a gift in support of education, or a remembrance that reflects his love of learning and teaching.

Though his time with us was far too short, Trey’s life mattered. He will be remembered for his intelligence, his loyalty, his compassion, his selflessness, and the many lives he touched simply by being himself.
