Corpus Christi, Texas -- James Robert “Jim” Edwards, of Corpus Christi, TX, passed away on January 1, 2026.

Jim was born in Bonham, TX in 1941, son of Fred and Lorene Edwards.

He enlisted in the US Navy in 1960 and was an Aviation Machinist’s Mate. While in the Navy he was stationed all over the world, serving on 4 aircraft carriers, crossing the equator 4 times, served in the Vietnam War, and was a member of the exclusive Order of the Blue Nose.

Jim retired in 1981 from the Navy in Pensacola, FL as a Senior Chief, where he settled and raised his three children. He went on to earn his AA degree and work in civil service there.

He was transferred to Corpus Christi Army Depot in 1994, where he retired after 9 years (22 total) of dedicated service to the Federal government.

Preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Lorene Edwards, sister-in-law, Susan Edwards, and niece, Betsey.

Survived by his twin brother, Joe Edwards; his children, Joel (Holly), Beckie (Gene), Kathi (Adam); grandchildren, Aidan, Jonah, Avery, Charlee, Brennan; niece, Brenda (Dean) child Sophie; nephew, John (Susan) child Keun.

He will be laid to rest January 21, 2026, 10:00 a.m., at the Coastal Bend Veterans State Cemetery, followed by a Celebration of Life at Guardian Funeral Home in Corpus Christi Texas.
