Bonham, Texas -- Vera Nell Dickey passed away on December 6, 2025, at Rock Creek Health facility in Sulphur Springs, Texas after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s.

She was born in Bonham on September 9, 1926, to Cromer and Ethel Crutcher. She married L.H. Dickey on August 3, 1945, and he preceded her on January 3, 2006. She and L.H. owned and operated Dickey’s Grocery Store in Bonham for about 20 years. She later went to work at Bonham MFG until it closed.

Survivors include her daughter Doris Bryant and husband Roy of Yantis, Texas; Grandson Jeffrey Jones of Bonham, Texas; Great-Grandson, Justin Jones and Liz of Sherman, Texas; and Great Great Granddaughter Jaelyn Jones of Sherman, Texas. She is also survived by a brother Paul B. Crutcher and wife Becky of Bonham, along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents Cromer and Ethel Crutcher, brothers Charles Crutcher and Marlin Crutcher and sister Ruby Jean Bivins. She was also preceded by three nephews.

Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday December 9, 2025, at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home. Service will be Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Willow Wild Cemetery in Bonham. The service will be officiated by Bro Steve Couch.

Pallbearers are William Robertson, Glenn Whitaker, Keith Dickey, Justin Jones, Jeff Jones, and Jim Biggers.
