Bonham, Texas -- Ronald Andrew Rhudy, 74, of Bonham passed from this life and entered his eternal home on Friday, December 5, 2025. Born July 10, 1951, in Bonham to W.A. “Dub” and Laura Harper Rhudy. Ronnie was a lifelong member of New Zion Baptist Church. He attended Ector School where he graduated in 1969. On November 5, 2005, Ronnie married his best friend, Barbara McBride Rhudy, with whom he shared 20 years of companionship, laughter and devotion. Ronnie was a true cowboy at heart. He enjoyed ranching and found joy spending his time with Barbara and their cattle and horses on their small ranch.
Right out of high school, Ronnie started his working career at Voluntary Purchasing Group where he spent several years on the road as a long haul truckdriver. He then retired from the City of Denison as Parks and Recreation Superintendent after 26 years of service. After retirement, Ronnie served two 4-year terms as Fannin County Commissioner Pct 1 and also served as County Tax Assessor Collector. He finished his career with the county as a truckdriver for Precinct 3 in Honey Grove where he retired again in December 2024. Ronnie was known overall for his dedication and reliability.

He was preceded in death by his parents, W.A. “Dub” and Laura Rhudy and his beloved grandparents, Clarence and Minnie Harper of Savoy. Ronne is survived by his wife Barbara; sister Sharon Moore of Ector; Brother Kenneth Rhudy and Cathy of Ector; Brother Joe Rhudy and Becky of Dodd City and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. His family, along with many friends and loved ones will remember him for his loyalty, kindness and unwavering work ethic.
Those who knew Ronnie will forever carry with them the memory of a good man – a sharp dressed cowboy who lived life with integrity, grit and a gentle spirit.
Those serving as pallbearers are Jarod Rhudy, Cole Rhudy, Justin Rhudy, Russ Shields, Adam McBride, Kolby Bruhn, Jon Akins and Jaxon Butler. Honorary Pallbearers: Dewey Gorden, Ray Gibbs, Steve Edwards, Gailen Todd, Jerry Magness, James Rhudy, Doug Olds and Stan Barker.
Funeral services under the direction of Cooper Sorrells Funeral Home of Bonham, Texas will be held at the Bois D’ Arc Creek Cowboy Church, 3375 S. Hwy 121, Bonham on Tuesday, December 9 at 2:00 p.m. Services delivered by Bro. Kevin Lane. Visitation will be on Monday, December 8 at Cooper Sorrells Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery in Savoy, Texas.
