Whitewright, Texas -- Guy Byron Ely, Jr., 81, passed away on December 3, 2025, in Denison, Texas. He was born on August 11, 1944, to Guy Byron Ely, Sr. and Alice (Harper) Ely in Slaton, Texas. He married his loving wife, Dorothy Sue (Shepherd) Ely on January 23, 1970, in Mesquite, Texas. They shared 54 years of marriage.

Guy will be remembered by his daughter, Chris Ely of Whitewright, Texas; brother in law, Robert Lee; nieces and nephews, Mark Shepherd, Debi Fortner, Donny Layman, Amanda McKinney, Doug McKinney, Rusty Turner, Roni Hamm, Melissa Kells, and Randall Lee; and numerous great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Alice Ely; wife, Dorothy Sue Ely; and sister, Bonnie Ely Lee.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Whitewright, Texas. The family will have a private gathering from 4:00-5:00 .p.m and a public visitation from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, December 8, 2025, at Turrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral Home in Whitewright, Texas.
