Dallas, Texas -- With a critical need for healthcare and STEM professionals across the nation, the University of North Texas at Dallas (UNT Dallas) will celebrate the grand opening of its new $100 million STEM facility on Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 9 a.m. The four-story academic building is the most significant capital addition in the university’s history and will open for student instruction in January at the start of the Spring 2026 semester.

The program and ribbon-cutting will begin at 9 a.m.

The innovative building includes 18–20 classrooms, nine teaching labs (biology and chemistry), three research labs, a large event space, multiple study and collaboration areas, faculty and staff offices, and a dedicated student STEM center.

Students preparing for medical or professional health careers will also have access to the Joint Admission Medical Program (JAMP) space.

The new STEM facility represents the next major step in the university’s plan to expand access to high-demand degree programs and strengthen the pipeline of highly skilled STEM graduates for North Texas employers. The building will support academic pathways into healthcare careers – including medical, nursing, and pharmacy school – as well as graduate programs in science, technology, medicine, and wellness.

The project is also expected to support economic growth in southern Dallas through partnerships with industry, schools and regional employers. Nearby developments, including University Hills and Rivulet, exemplify the growing investment tied to the campus.
