Mt. Vernon had a 7-2 lead after the opening period and took a 14-9 lead into the locker room at halftime.

That all changed when Dodd City put together a 16-2 run in the third period to give the Lady Hornets a 25-16 advantage going into the fourth quarter.

Dodd City padded its lead by two points down the stretch to earn a 32-21 victory over the Class 3A opponent.

Addison Weeks paced the Lady Hornets with 21 points, six rebounds and seven deflections.

Gracyn Shindler and Kendyl Lindsey both finished with four points and Kennedy Chaney put up three points.

Lindsey and Kodi Dorau each grabbed five rebounds, while Chaney and Kayleigh McBrayer both pulled down one rebound.

Weeks came up with a pair of steals, with Shindler and Dorau each grabbing one rebound.

Dodd City will host Collinsville on December 2.
