Greenville, Texas -- Join us on Tuesday, December 2 at noon at the Audie Murphy/American Cotton Museum for a program by Kevin Sawatsky & Robert Hall. They will be talking about their experiences hiking the 500 mile Camino de Santiago trail in northern Spain. They will share why they did this adventure, what they saw along the way, and things they learned from it.

The Camino de Santiago or the Way of St. James, is a network of pilgrimages leading to a shrine of the apostle James in the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia in northwestern Spain.

Tradition holds that the remians of the apostle James are buried there. It was created and established at the beginning of the 9th century following the discover of the relics of Saint James the Great. It became a major pilgrimage route for medieval Christians from the 10th century onward.

In 2024, there were about 500,000 people who hiked or biked along one of the several routes to get to Santiago de Compostela.

Admission to the program will be free for museum members; otherwise there will be a $5 general admission fee. For additional questions contact the Museum at (903) 450-4502.
