Limited tickets still available for Nov. 9 ‘funlanthropy’ event that raises money to fight MS

Dallas, Texas -- More than 600 people are expected to attend the 15th annual Meat Fight®, a FUNdraiser benefiting people living with multiple sclerosis. Since its founding in 2010, Meat Fight has raised more than $3 million through the generosity of local chefs, pitmasters and supporters. The event, which pits local chefs against each other in battles involving meats, sides and sweets, takes place Nov. 9 at Dallas Youth Sports. A limited number of general admission tickets are still available for the event at meatfight.com.

In the meaty main event, 16 well-known North Texas chefs will compete in teams of four, in categories including brisket, sausage, chicken, and a wild card.

The fighters are:

Jill Bergus (Lockhart Smokehouse)

Jeff Bergus (Lockhart Smokehouse)

Jalen Heard (Goldee's BBQ)

Jeffery Hobbs (Slow Bone BBQ)

Brandon Hurtado (Hurtado Barbecue)

Pete Delkus (WFAA Chief Meteorologist)

Brian Luscher (33 Restaurant Group)

Nick Pencis (Stanley's Famous Pit Bar-B-Q)

Jen Pencis (Stanley's Famous Pit Bar-B-Q)

Wayne Mueller (Louie Mueller BBQ)

Daniel Vaughn (Barbecue Editor, Texas Monthly Magazine)

Guests will receive about 24 samples to nosh on during the event, including the meats, sides and sweets. They’ll need something to wash it all down, of course. Participating beverage providers include Noble Coyote Coffee Roasters, Four Corners Brewing Co., Vector Brewing, Oak Cliff Brewing, Rambler, Lockwood Distilling Co., RACHO Mezcal and LadyBird Soda.

If you need a Meat Fight drink fix after Nov. 9, just wait till December, when Pogo’s Wine & Spirits GM Courtney Luscher will release a Rare Character x Pogo’s Barrel Pick Whiskey created in support of Meat Fight. And if you can’t make it to Meat Fight, you can support the nonprofit by attending a Sunday Supper at Meridian.
