Ector Lady Eagles show grit as #21 in the state, battle hard against Dodd City

Ector, Texas -- The Ector Lady Eagles, ranked #21 in the state, showcased incredible grit and determination Friday night in a tough home matchup against Dodd City. Despite falling in three hard-fought sets (28–30, 19–25, 21–25), the Lady Eagles battled for every point, proving their resilience and heart as they head into playoffs.

The team’s defensive effort was one for the record books. Audrey Arie shattered the single-game dig record with 34 digs, while Lydia Essary also broke a school record with 18 digs. Ally Harris posted a career-high 17 digs, and Alana Mackey tied a record with 18 digs of her own. Offensively, Mackey also led the way with 9 kills, 8 assists, and an ace.

Adalynn Dederick filled the stat sheet with 2 aces, 5 kills, 12 assists, and 12 digs, showing her all-around impact. Aleea Wheeler contributed 5 kills, 3 digs, and an ace, while Odette Cruz recorded 2 blocks—a career high—along with a dig.

The Lady Eagles’ relentless energy and teamwork were on full display, refusing to back down against a strong opponent. With playoffs on the horizon, Ector is ready to carry this same fight and determination into the first round against Miller Grove—date to be announced.
