McKinney Fire Department responds to plane crash in residential area

McKinney, Texas (Oct. 17, 2025) – At approximately 9:19 a.m., McKinney Fire Department units were dispatched to reports of a plane crash in the 1700 block of El Cielo Street and Baron Way. 

Upon arrival, firefighters found that a single-pilot, general aviation airplane had crashed on open residential lots. No homes were damaged as a result of the crash. 

The pilot, who was the sole occupant of the aircraft, was transported by McKinney Fire Department medics to a local trauma hospital in stable condition. 

Fire crews worked with law enforcement and federal aviation officials to secure the area and ensure there were no hazards to nearby residents. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
