If there has ever been a place where you could open the door and turn back time, the community of Gober, Texas, might be where you would be able to. Once a thriving town for agriculture and commerce, the community nestled in the southeastern part of Fannin County still has the aura of yesteryear when you pass through on Farm to Market 68. One thing to be sure of, though, is that you’ll always receive a warm welcome from the generations of farm families and new residents alike.
Part of the community tradition includes hosting their annual Gober Fall Festival each October to bring together the community, neighbors, and friends for a night of enjoyment highlighted by a chili and stew supper, homemade desserts, kid’s games, raffles, and a live fundraising auction.
They are proud to announce that the tradition will continue with their annual Fall Festival being held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, with dinner and games starting at 5:30 p.m. and the auction beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Fittingly, the Fall Festival is held at the Gober Community Center located directly behind the “Welcome to Gober, Texas” sign at the intersection of FM 68 and FM 271.
No one knows for certain the first year the Fall Festival took place, but they can’t remember when it did not happen. Warm memories of reminiscing with old friends, enjoying fellowship, and talking about the “good old days” are discussed when the Gober Community Club meets to plan for each year’s festivities. Many new residents and younger generations also play a large part in making the event successful, showing that Gober can be progressive while holding on to the identity for which it is known.
Somewhere amidst the fields, pastures, homes, old pickups, and farm equipment lies the heart of what makes Gober, Texas a special place to be – its people. Every one of them would like to see you on a relaxing Saturday night in Gober, enjoying a taste of rural Texas at its finest. See you then!
