Dodd City, Texas -- In the final match before district competition, the Dodd City Lady Hornets defeated the Sulphur Bluff Lady Bears in straight sets.
In the first set, Sulphur Bluff seemed to be in control with a 20-13 lead before Dodd City went on a 12-2 run to win, 25-22.
The Lady Hornets won the next two sets, 25-19 and 25-18, for the sweep.
Addison Weeks led all hitters with 14 kills, Gracyn Shindler knocked down nine kills, Kodi Dorau had three kills, Kaleigh McBrayer put down a pair of kills and Caroline Lackey had one kill.
Weeks handed out 10 assists, Kenzi Freeman and McBrayer both finished with five assists, Shindler dished out four assists and Adisen White had three assists.
Shindler and Weeks each had 17 digs, Freeman came up with 14 digs and McBrayer had five digs.
Shindler had a team-high five aces and Weeks had four aces.
Dorau was a force at the net with five blocks. McBrayer had two blocks and Weeks had one block.
The Lady Hornets (16-13) will open district play Tuesday, October 7 at Savoy.
