Howe, Texas -- The Leonard Lady Tigers bounced back into the win column with a three-set victory over the Howe Lady Bulldogs on Tuesday night.

Leonard had to work for the win and all three sets were highly competitive. In a sign of things to come, the teams were tied at 24-24 in the first set when Leonard knocked down consecutive points for a 26-24 win.

The second set was just as exciting, with Leonard turning back Howe, 25-23. Leonard earned a sweep on the road with a 25-21 victory in the third set.

Leonard's Leah Stoy had an impressive performance with 15 kills and Madison Jones came close to double digits with nine kills. Bella Neaville knocked down six kills, with Ashlynn Cavendar, Caroline Holton and Riley Brown all collecting three kills apiece.

Ava Flowers put down a pair of kills while directing the offense with 39 assists.

Olivia Aylor led the back row with 10 digs and handed out one assist.

Emma Houser came up with eight digs and Jasper Cunningham finished with four digs.

Jones led Leonard at the service line with three aces and Stoy slipped a pair of aces through the Howe defense.

The Lady Tigers (28-4, 4-2) will begin the second round of District 11-3A competition on Friday, October 3 when Leonard hosts S&S.

Gunter leads the district standings with a 6-0 record, while Bells, Blue Ridge and Leonard are all two games back at 4-2.
