Sherman, Texas -- The Austin College volleyball team returned to Hughey Gym for the first time in nearly a month and came away with a 3-0 sweep over the visiting University of Dallas on Thursday evening, bringing the 'Roos to 8-5 overall and 2-1 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.
Austin College picked up a 25-10 win in the opening set and took the second 25-14, before closing out the match with a 25-17 victory to complete the sweep. The 'Roos hit .309 as a team in the win, adding 10 service aces in total, while Dallas hit -.010 for the match with nine service errors.
It was a balanced effort for Austin College, with 12 players recording at least one kill while 22 players got into the match. Selah Coleman led the way with six kills and zero attacking errors for a hitting percentage of .667, while Rachel Sadler added five kills in the win. Coleman chipped in seven digs and Sadler had six, as well as a pair of aces. Victoria Larson and Caroline Smith each had four kills, while Laynie Kovacs paced the 'Roos defensively with 15 digs and Madisin Hartsfield had four total blocks, including two solo blocks. Madison Manning led the 'Roos with 14 assists. Kovacs had a team-high three aces in the win.
