Sherman, Texas -- Violinist Hirono Borter and cellist Philip Borter—together known as Duo-B—will perform at Austin College on Thursday, September 25 at 7:30 p.m. in Wynne Chapel. This guest artist recital is free and open to the public.

Duo-B will present a captivating program drawn from their recent album Tango y Choro, featuring original arrangements and compositions for violin and cello. Blending the soulful elegance of Argentine tango with the virtuosic charm of Brazilian choro, their program offers a fresh, intimate take on two beloved Latin American traditions, reimagined through the duo’s unique artistic voice.

Duo-B has been featured in prestigious venues and festivals across three continents, including the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., Minato Mirai Hall in Yokohama, and the Universität der Künste in Berlin. Recent appearances include the Experiencing Villa-Lobos International Festival, the Victoria Bach Festival, and Beerthoven in Austin, Texas. With a reputation for bold programming and engaging performances, Duo-B continues to push the boundaries of what a violin-cello duo can achieve.

They reside in Waco, Texas, where Philip serves as Assistant Professor of Cello at Baylor University. While dedicating their performance lives to the string duo, Philip & Hirono cherish being full-time parents to five children: Jude, Joseph, Matthew, Miriam, & Marie.
